Tolcarne Depot
The site name comes from the former Western National depot in Newquay, located in Tolcarne Road. I was privileged to enjoy an extended association with the depot and the many personalities that brought it to life. Sadly, like the building itself, many of those personalities are no longer with us. With that in mind this site is, in part at least, a tribute to a way of life that will never be the same again. As expected there are a number of photographs from in and around Western National's Newquay depot, included to hopefully provide a flavour of life in the depot.
Many of the images on this site have come from scans of original prints or slides that are in excess of twenty years old. In some cases image enhancement has been used which, while improving the quality, has modified slightly some colours. In some cases, for aesthetic reasons, the image has been converted to greyscale. On the bus & coach gallery there are several pieces of information, designed to inform and reduce search time for those seeking specific vehicles.
